Welcome to the 4th episode of aelf Monthly Digest (October 2022). This report provides an overview of aelf’s development progress including tech and product updates, growth of the ecosystem, and events in the past month.
October is a month of steady growth, laying the foundation for future upgrades and launches. Major changes occurred on the Testnet of aelf’s official website, with its text updated, layout optimized, and content better displayed. What’s more, a new page and new portals were added. The whitepapers were also updated. In terms of tech and product, aelf explorer was upgraded one step further, catering to the various needs of users.
Technology:
- aelf Explorer v1.2.2 Upgrade: aelf explorer v1.2.2 perfects the UE by making data easier to find, sort, and use. What concerns users the most is shown on separate pages and real-time value calculation is done by the explorer. With these, users can obtain important info at a glance.
- aelf Official Website v2.1.0 Update on Testnet: Texts of the website are updated, from the description of aelf and developer tools to other vital info. The overall layout is optimized, displaying infrastructures and adding clickable icons. More internal links are added and the UIs are adjusted for different devices.
- aelf Ecosystem Page Launched on Testnet: This Ecosystem page displays deployed projects and projects going live on the aelf ecosystem. Users can click on their buttons to try them out. For developers, there is an application portal through which they can apply for their projects to be listed on this site.
- aelf Whitepaper v1.7.0 & aelf Economic and Governance Whitepaper v1.2.0 Update on Testnet: aelf’s whitepapers have some text updates, including the explanation of key concepts and mechanisms. There are also corrections of trivial typos and formats.
Ecosystem:
As a growing number of projects are making steady progress toward full deployment, aelf has completed code reviews for some of them. Here we have selected 2 projects whose codes have been reviewed by the tech team. In future monthly digests, aelf will gradually bring the rest of these projects to our community.
AwakenSwap is a DeFi platform deployed onto aelf, providing decentralized exchange and lending services. The vision is to help crypto enthusiasts, especially aelf users, utilize their assets to the max. Once going live on aelf Mainnet, Awaken will release various functions step-by-step, including decentralized exchange, lending, and dividend. These functions complement each other, dedicated to creating an all-in-one DApp for a better user experience.
DApp development is not that easy as language requirements may differ greatly, yet aelf Blazor SDK provides a development package so developers can easily create a DApp for aelf in C#. The package allows them to communicate from C# with the NightELF extension. It is designed to be usable in all scenarios, including the Testnet, Mainnet, and SideChains, and is able to call smart contracts.
Events:
aelf explorer v1.2.2 sorts addresses and contracts into the top 1,000 by their balance or the date of their last update. Information about addresses, contracts, and tokens is better categorized. The account balance is calculated in both ELF and real-time USD.
aelf is a high-performance blockchain designed to support the development of Web3 and its explosion in the next 5 to 10 years. As a layer-1 network, aelf has incomparable processing speed which is even faster than most of the layer-2 projects. Built on cloud computing, aelf has a distributed network of nodes on various cloud data centers. Multiple tools like browser extensions, aelf blockchain explorer, wallet App, and SDKs have been built and open-sourced so that developers can easily build and contribute to aelf ecosystem.
With two hackathons successfully hosted and more stunning projects deployed onto the network, aelf is ready and well-equipped for the upcoming explosion. With the ambition set to drive the development of Web3 and promote the adoption of blockchain technology, aelf shall sustain long-term growth by consolidating the existing ecosystem and adding more interesting features at the same time. Expansion of aelf ecosystem is underway.
